    Welcome Norwoodians!

Norwood is a school with a strong community.  Our goal is to help each student be all that they can be; to help them to develop the skills and knowledge so that they can fully participate in and appreciate the cultural, social, political, and economic and aspects of society.

To ensure success for all students, Norwood School provides excellence in instruction of all literacies and takes pride in fostering high levels of wellness in the school and community.

Three particular areas of focus this year are; continuing to develop a strong culture of learning; maintaining the dynamic and strong culture of belonging and safety; and providing authentic learning experiences in our Natural Outdoor Learning Grounds and through targeted fieldtrip adventures.

School success is based on the students’ ability to be ready for learning: to be ready to fully engage in the activities and experiences that our amazing teachers prepare each day. Thank you for your support at home to help students be ready for learning each day!

To be ready for learning students need to:

    • Be on time for school so that they do not miss out on the vital transitions to the school day and the sharing of the day’s expectations and goals
    • Be at school every day to ensure they do not miss critical leanings and find themselves in a state of perpetual ‘catch up”
    • Be well rested and fed (10-11 hours of sleep a night for students ages 5-12)
    • Play safe and be a good friend to others
    • Be thoughtful about their own learning needs and respectful of the needs of others
    • Be ready to cooperate with all adults and peers in the building

Welcome to the Norwood School Family!

Welcome to Norwood for the 2017-2018 school year!

The first day of school for students this year is Tuesday, September 5, 2017.  School begins at 8:38 AM and finishes at 3:20pm M/T/W/F.  Thursdays, school finishes at 2:15pm. The attached sheets will give you some basic information about the school and what to expect on the first few days of school.

All students will receive an agenda to use for the school year.  Unfortunately, our order this year has been delayed, but should be arriving by the end of the second week of school. This agenda will be used for communicating between the teachers and home.  Thank you for ensuring that you check andsign the agenda each day so that teachers know you are getting daily information.

We are extremely happy to share that over the summer, each classroom was completely updated with brand new classroom furniture! This new furniture allows staff and students much more flexibility in the day, and is better suited to meeting the needs of our 21st century learners.

The school lunch program begins on Monday, September 18th.  Please ensure your child has a bag lunch for the first 2 weeks.  If you would like more information about the lunch program, please ask in at the office on the first week of school.

Please note: If your child requires medication to be taken during school hours, an authorization form must be completed.  This form is available in the office.

If you have any questions or would like additional clarification please do not hesitate to call the office at 780-477-1002.  Alternatively, you can check out our Twitter feed by following us @Norwood_EPSB.

We look forward to meeting you and working in partnership to help your children be the best they can be! Welcome to the Norwood School Family!
